Americans were estimated at about 7,200 for the death toll. Another 10,000 died in military camps or exposure to disease. 8,500 died in prisons after being captured by the British. All of that added together adds up to a grand total of 25,700 deaths for the Americans. In addition, 1,400 soldiers were reported missing in action (MIA). The British lost about only 10,000.
The Cost of the War.
It took nearly 20 years for the Americans to pay of the debt form the war by taxing people. The war severely strained the United Kingdom’s economy. The king and parliament feared that the war would put them in bankruptcy.
