Results of the Revolutionary War

by: Ean

Some of the results of the revolutionary war were that they recognized governments ruled by law and devoted to the guarantee of basic rights, including the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thomas Paine was quoted after the war saying, " it contributed more to enlighten the world, and defuse a spirit of freedom and kindness among mankind than any human event... that ever precede it."
The thirteen states and congress went to debt because of paying for the Revolutionary War. In 1788, the Constitution gave them taxation power, by taxing, they were able to pay off their debts. The war strained the United Kingdom's economy drastically. the king was scared that the war may bankrupt the country. but after the war, trade with the U.S. made their country flourish.
