         John Hancock signed his name bigger than everyone elses because he wanted the the king of Great Britain, King George, to be able to see his name wiithout spectacles, and then he could double the price of £500 for his head.

The Declaration of Independence was made by Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia.

  • What???

The Declaration of Independence is a document made in order to proclaim freedom from Great Britain.

  • When???

The delegates officially approved the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

  • Where???

They signed and wrote up the final Declaration of Independence in the Declaration Hall in Philadelphia.

  • Why???

The Americans were mad at the British because the they were taxing them and creating acts to help the British pay for things that they were in debt for. They also were creating acts to use as punishments for the colonists actions the British didn't like.

  • How???

During the war some representatives from the states met to go over the draft and gave their opinions on  what should be in it.

The four parts of the Declaration of Independence are:

  • Preamble
  • Declaration of Natural Rights
  • Lists of Grievances
  • Resolution or Independence by the United States
