When
 December 1773

Where
 Boston, Boston Harbor

How
In December 1773, angry Bostonians called the Sons of Liberty dressed as Mohawk Native Americans boarded British merchant ships in the Boston Harbor. The Sons of Liberty dumped 342 crates of tea from the British ships. The Bostonians were mad that they were only allowed to buy tea from the East India Trading Company. The East India Trading Company was owned by Britain and was going bankrupt. To keep the company from being closed the British stated that only tea from the East India Trading Company could be bought. In response to the Boston Tea Party the British closed Boston Harbor until all the tea that was dumped overboard was paid for.
Why
The colonists were mad about the tax on tea and only being able to buy it from the East India Trading Company. The East India Trading company was going bankrupt and to keep the company from closing, the british forced the colonists to buy tea from only that company. This is called a monopoly. Not only that but the tea had a large tax on it.  The colonists didn’t want to pay taxes on goods if they didn’t get a say in the British government.
