General Information
  • Grades 7-8 boys basketball teams play in the Metropolitan Catholic League against Catholic schools from Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Gilbertville, Independence, and Jesup. 
  • There is a varsity tournament (8th grade) and a junior varsity tournament (7th grade) at the end of the season in Waterloo. There is also a varsity (8th grade) preseason tournament in Waterloo.
  • There are also non-league games scheduled against local teams from  parochial schools such as Cedar Valley Christian,  Heritage Christian, Newhall Lutheran, Trinity Lutheran, etc.
  • Next school year St. Joseph Catholic School will compete as an independent member of the Tri-Rivers Conference in middle school athletics.
  • St. Joseph also has 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade boys basketball teams.
  • Grades 4-6 boys basketball teams play local teams from Central City, Marion, Center Point-Urbana, Mt. Vernon, Iowa City Regina, North Linn, Trinity Lutheran, Cedar Valley Christian, Alburnett, Heritage Christian, Newhall Lutheran, etc.

St. Joseph Chargers Seventh Grade Boys Basketball Team
Wins 2006 League JV Tournament

Congratulations to the Chargers Seventh Grade Boys Basketball Team who captured the championship of the 2006 Metropolitan Catholic League Junior Varsity Tournament in Waterloo on Monday night, Feb. 27, 2006. St. Joseph won on a final shot at the buzzer to upend St. Edward of Waterloo.  Coaches of the team are Terry Feye and Mike Tiernan.
