The Project Coordinating Committee is a group of eight parishioners who were selected by Fr. Mark to oversee the renovation and/or construction in the following spaces: church, offices, school, early childhood program, before and after school program, parish hall and gathering space. The Project Coordinating Committee was created in accord with the guidelines of The Archdiocesan Building Commission and with approval of the Parish Council. The group began meeting in May 2005
The last major renovations to take place at St. Matthew Parish occurred over 30 years ago. The current church building and rectory will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2007 and the school will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2006. The rectory was intended as a residence for three priests, but currently serves as office space for over a dozen staff members and two priests. All areas of the Parish campus are showing signs of aging.
It is time to address the structural limitations of the buildings, beautify the interior spaces, and renovate with efficiency and flexibility as a top priority. Meeting space desperately is needed to support the ongoing effort to provide parishioners with opportunities to mature in their faith. It is important that we continue to provide a welcoming atmosphere where we can build relationships, develop strong learning communities, and create a place where people want to come to worship God.
