St. Matthew School participates in the Scrip program which is designed to benefit both the school and the family. Information on the St. Matthew Scrip program can be obtained by calling 362-3021.
St. Matthew's Scrip is a unique concept of accumulating money toward reducing your tuition.
In the Scrip program, we purchase gift certificates from the stores we use everyday, at discounted rate, sell them you at full face value, and pass along the profit received, to you in the form of tuition reimbursement.
You have the choice of where you would like the profit given. The profit is then divided 50/50.
You may choose: the parish, the guardian angel program or your own tuition account.
The remaining 50% is given to the Parent Association for the cost associated with running the Scrip program and then for their fundraising needs.
Last year, $10,000.00 was given to the school.
Profits for this next years' tuition are accumulated between July 1 and June 30, so you see you have 5 months of opportunity ahead.
Last year, sales for the Scrip program totaled $742,615.00 with profits of $37,000.00. Of the 50% profit ($18,500), $17,034.00 went towards tuition credit.
130 families participated in the tuition credit program, with $130.00 being the average used in reducing tuition. The top 10 families were able to reduce their tuition by an average of $370.00. The largest amount was over $800.00
Just to give you an example, only family of 4 uses Scrip only for their usual $125.00 weekly grocery purchase at Econofoods (5%). They deducted $175.00 from their tuition and indirectly gave St. Matthew School $175.00!
Depending on your deduction to Scrip, anything is possible. You may ask friends, relatives, anyone to designate your family for their Scrip profits.
The upcoming 5 months are for you to accumulate your profits towards to tuition.
Scrip is sold Monday 8:15 - 9:00, Wednesday 8:15 - 8:45 and Thursday 2:45 - 3:15 in the school cafeteria. You may also purchase Scrip after all weekend Masses.
